Knee lever problem

Does anyone know why my Sho~Bud super pro 2nd string (E9) knee lever requires so much effort to reach the whole tone lower? I have to lean my body weight into it to get there. Do these changers normally need helper springs? I can't figure it out. Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks

I disconnected the 9th string lower and the C6 3rd string lower and the 2nd string works really well now. Maybe the cumulative return spring load was creating too much resistance. Would lighter springs work?

Michael it's common practise to use the ninth lower as semitone to give you a feel of the second string semitone lower There is usually nothing wrong with that arrangement The only other thing that would cause stiffness maybe you have the pullrod too high up on the crank And you are losing leverage?
