Vertical Knee lever extension hack

Postby Hobro » Sun Feb 21, 2021 5:31 pm

I recently bought myself a really nice used GFI.
The guitar however came with standard length legs.
So when I recently fitted a GFI vertical knee lever on the left knee and found that even at the lowest setting it was too high for my munchkin legs to reach!
I googled a few ideas regarding knee lever extensions But nothing was really floating my boat.
Even toyed with the idea of getting some slightly shorter legs but this was going to be too expensive.
So with a little bit of thought I came up with this idea, which requires absolutely no modification to your guitar whatsoever.
It’s a piece of delrin rod, 10 cm long 20 cm diameter with 3 x 10mm coated spring clips.
I’ve been using it for over a week now and it’s rock solid and works like a charm.
I’ve now added some O-rings that fit over the clips which makes the extension even more solid.
It’s also really easy to remove when you need to pack the steel in its case

Total cost around £10.

What a great, and tidy, idea Tim :guitar:

I found the same problem with my GFI, and got round it with my Blue Peter approach, velcro and a lump of polystyrene  and the funny thing is, it's worked. Looks atrocious though.

This is a pic of a Magnum pro select. Its what I intend to change my vertical knee lever to. I have the same issues of " shortiness "
