I think my MSA legend is probably the best guitar out there. But can I be sure?????? And why do I keep lusting after some of the guitars that appear here and in the ‘other’ place? I reckon its only the fact that I play a 12 stringer that’s kept it under control. Looking at the long lists of instruments in folks forum signatures tells me I am not alone with this problem....

Calum
Never thought about a 14 stringer Calum?
It's like when you buy the Gold Membership to the health club and discover there's a Platinum Membership you weren't told about.
My take is that you know what works for you, that's not to say that new developments should not be experimented with. My MSA Legend does everything I require, I reckon the only reason for having others is for a different tone or sound, in 6 string guitar terms a Strat has a distinctive sound which will never sound like a Les Paul and vice versa. So both are required if you want to have both these sounds. (Not a big fan of modelling software or hardware emulators, they are sound alike but never quite true).
Same applies to Pedal Steels, a Sho Bud has a distinctive tone of it's own, as does an Emmons push-pull, so if you want these particular tones then you require the instruments which can produce them.
Personally I would be tempted to buy an Emmons 12 string as it certainly has a unique beautiful tone. Lottery ticket going on tonight
