You got it right first time Bob. Looking at the limitations of a bog standard Maverick, there are decisions to be made on what string pulls to dispense with and what ones to add. Certainly as you have demonstrated, the C pedal is not critical. However, I do believe that the raising of the top E string to F is indispensable, so to get this I would put a Sho~Bud half stop bracket on the 4th string raise, and have a lever taking the E to F#. The 7th string raise to G# has become an important move for me (gives a lovely Maj7 with A&B pedals), and combined with the first string to either G or G# would make sense. The 2nd string lower to C# with a half stop plus the 9th string lower would also make sense. It boils down to what changes are chord changes and what are lick changes. Chord changes should take preference in my my view.

Here is a set up that I would put on a Maverick that has 4 levers. It might be controversial, but I would take the pulls off of the A or 1 pedal and just use 2 floor pedals.

In the USA, a number of players have bought Mavericks cheaply, dispensed with the pedals and used it as a non pedal steel with C6 tuning. Johnny Cox is one such player.

Sorry Bob, to clarify, I was offered a Maverick with no K/Ls and was trying to find out initially if there was a way to add them. With all the aid and suggestions I've seen from you guys it all seemed to be getting too much for the old fuddled brain to cope with. When I bought in a few BMIs back in the 90s I bought a spare changer mech as I was having ambitions about building my own steel but never got round to it. I completely forgot I had it until yesterday so I had the absolutely brilliant idea of buying the Maverick and fitting the changer to it; Hey presto. Unfortunately the seller is looking for way too much money.

Joan Cox is a good player, but she always makes it look a painful experience whenever I've seen her perched behind that beautiful MSA of hers. Ivor Greenwood has spent many an hour at Dallas trying to persuade her to sell him her MSA but with no joy. Hers is a keeper.

Johnny and Joan Cox are no longer together. They parted quite a while ago but are still friendly. Johnny is with another lady these days. He can play for sure.

I was in the Live Strings room at Dallas when he first played through a Telonics amp, and heard him keep saying "I gotta get one of these!" And he did.
