Hilton UK adapter

Postby jonshack » Thu Apr 13, 2017 4:41 pm

A US player is touring over here and has asked me about his powered Hilton pedal. Can he use a step up adapter? In which case can somebody point me to the right gadget? Is there an issue with polarity (I see one of Gerry Hogan's Hiltons has an extra polarity lead http://www.steelguitars.co.uk/Accessories.htm)?

I can lend him a pot pedal but obviously in an ideal world he wants to use gear he's used to.

Thanks
Jonathan

I have given him the info Jon as to where he can get one in the states but if he doesn't manage it he can borrow one of mine, the ones I use have a different plug face for each country, his reverb should run on a 9v battery......

They usually run off a tiny switch-mode power supply that will provide the right output voltage for the pedal regardless of the input volts. The small print on the PSU casing should say "110/230v AC 50/60Hz". If so all he needs is a physical plug adaptor or a changeable plug-in doofer that usually comes supplied as standard - well, over here anyways.

If all else fails we have a small auto-transformer you can plug into UK mains and will produce 110V AC for a US plug - he can borrow that, no problem. With Di being American we get this sort of thing all the time.

Thanks fellas, think we're sorted now. Looks like the polarity lead is the pro version only, I was over complicating things.
