Adding a knee lever to a 6-shooter

Postby JeffM » Thu Aug 06, 2015 12:57 pm

Hi guys,

I have a Fessenden 6-Shooter which is a lovely little guitar. A VERY basic 6 string pedal steel with 2 pedals (single raise, no lower).
OK, it's no substitute for a full size one but great when you want the flavour of pedal steel but it just isn't practical to use one.

I've got mine set up as strings 3-8 of E9 with A & B pedals.

I was thinking it would be great to be able to raise my Es too and wondered how easy it would be to make a knee lever for it?
Even better, although the changer only raises, would it be possible to "fake" a lower by having a spring holding the changer in the engaged position and the lever pushing against the spring to lower it?

Any suggestions on how to go about this or what parts I could use, gratefully received.

Here is a link to a picture of the underside to show how simple it is.
