Tuners

Here I am again, "newbie seeks advice". Hope this is rthe right place to post this, maybe Tuners needs a thread of it's own ?
As a bassist over the years I have been more than happy with my Korg DT1 tuner, I love rack mounted stuff, and this tuner has been great to use. However I understand with PSG (only thinking about E9th atm) we don't use 440Hz for of all strings and that Jeff Newman sorted out a very specific set of different frequencies so that the PSG actually sounds right when you play it. Nothings better than a good ear of course. I see that the Peterson tuners have the facility to be able to offer PSG players the ability to tune their PSG's utilising these predetermined special tuning frequencies. My questions are :-
Do ALL Peterson tuners do this, or only a specific ones, I was hoping to buy the rack mounted one, given my disposition to rack mounted stuff. But as long as I buy one that does the job that's fine.
Do the "Newman" special frequencies apply only to open strings or to the pedals and knee levers also, are they the same or different.
It would be nice to know from the outset.

This is one of those occasions where you just need to "bite the Bullet" and go and get yourself a Peterson HD, for a multitude of reasons. The peterson range is a product of evolution, their VS was great, their Strobo flip even better and then the HD with its huge display, rechargeable battery, ease of use and the best bang for buck ever!
Cleartune do a great app for your phone for about £2-50 that will show you the cents etc. But you can have my Peterson HD only .........WHEN YOU PRY IT FROM MY COLD>>>>DEAD>> FINGERS

+1 for John's HD endorsement 
The presets do apply to open strings, but the HD has the facility to store your own presets for all the pedal/lever possibilities. It takes a bit of setting up but it's a one time job, and for me, it removed that nagging question that rang in my ear as I was playing,"is this f

It's a boggling instrument, to be sure

Well I'll be there at Bulkington on the 8th, and you'd better hang on to that tuner and modified Roland....
Seriously though thanks for that I'll have a look at the HD properly and buy as soon as I can.

I tune straight up on my steel, no problems with tuning.

How good are your ears? For years I tuned for gigs using my ear - that was all we had back then. About a couple of decades ago I got a relatively cheap Boss TU12 and that was fine (but I still checked by ear!). The TU12 broke recently but, as I don't gig out these days, I am quite content to go back to ears. So, how good are yours?

Well Tony, my ears are as finely tuned as a fruitbat's, if a tad hairier and waxier 
But even these hyper sensitive audio receptacles struggle with the football on the telly, the jukebox blaring simultaneously and the din from the revellers that one finds in the pubs of my dear old town, and sadly these are the only gigs available to a picker of my lowly calbire
