Hi steelies,
I had a pickup by Ronnie Bennett installed on my steel and although I liked it I wanted to try out the original super sustain which incidentally I do prefer as it has a more pedal steel sound. The previous owner wanted more of a single coil telecaster sound apparently. So, I took that out and put the super sustain back on and it sounds a lot better but it now has ALOT of hum! I guess I must have wired it incorrectly as although it has always suffered with this it wasn't unbearable!
i play through a fender blues junior amp but that didn't seem to matter before I rewired the pickup. The pickup only has two wires coming out of it, one black one white. How can I earth this? The hum goes away somewhat when I am touching the strings but more so when touching the changer.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I can post pictures if needs be
Thanks
Phil

This won't eliminate your noise but it will help...

Great thanks!
Where is this grey wire coming from? I only have this set up. I have a tone and volume pot but I just rewired it how it was with the single coil, no idea if that was correct or not :/

The earth side of your wiring! White should be hot so I assume black will be the one!

Haha ok, so leave the white one where it is and solder the black one to the underside of the changer like in your picture?
