Hi,
I have a GFI sm10s and the nylong tuners are very stiff and hard to turn (with the tool), to the point that they creek and pop when i tune.
I can only thinks that they may already be tightend to the max and may snap. Should loosen them off and retune? I havnt tried this as Im not yet familiar with the mechanics of the istrument and concerened i may mess with the set up.
or is this just a cost saving in the build of a student model?
Thanks,
Darren.

If you stay with the same gauge strings you should never have to tune the pedals or knee levers.
Some of mine click too when turning and they are still on the thread. I prefer a tight adjustment than a loose one.

If they're so stiff you can't adjust them properly, carefully run them up and down a few times using a socket on an electric drill.
Use a slow speed and don't let them bottom out on the rod or you could damage them. If you do you can always get some more.
Just take it easy and be careful.
