Dead Sho-Bud pickup – rewind or replace?

Wed Oct 13, 2021 9:05 pm

Hi all,

The pickup in my 1970s Sho-Bud Maverick has died and I'm looking for a capable person to rewind it for me. Can anyone recommend someone who know what they're doing with a steel pickup?

The other option would be to just replace it. It looks like Steeltronics make a pickup (the CS10) that would fit the very narrow cavity on the Sho-Bud (https://www.steeltronics.com/product/cs ... tar-pickup). Does anyone know of any other candidates that would fit? The existing pickup is roughly 30mm x 115mm for reference.

Finally, what would you do – repair the existing pickup or replace it?

Thanks in advance!

David

There is a guy in Wales who goes under the name of Wizard Pickups who can rewind and pot your pickup for you for not a lot of money. Just click on the link below. He's a good guy and won't rip you off.
