String 2 Feel Stop

Wed Dec 09, 2020 7:33 pm

Bear with me I've only had my SD10 a couple weeks and it's all kinds of overwhelming.

I started looking at Paul Franklin's back up lesson and he lowers string 2 a whole step and my Fessenden is set to a half step.

I've searched and if I have it right I can tune the half step with the tuner for my string 9 and unscrew the set screw above the changer for string 2 enough to tune that for the whole step drop and have the set screw stop at that point.

Is that right?

That is correct, but you may need to increase the knee lever travel, as you want the second string to drop a semitone before the ninth string starts to move

You don't say that you want a half stop as well, but by trying different holes in the bell-crank and the changer you can set it so the lever "picks up" the 9th string when the 2nd lowers to the half tone, so you can feel the extra resistance and stop there if you want. Then push harder to get down to the whole tone. That way you have the "D/C#" that you see on many, if not most, guitars. The half stop has been discussed on here recently, look it up for maybe more tips?
