ZB volume pedal pot help

Tue Jun 30, 2020 4:51 pm

Hi from sunny Cornwall, hoping for help or advice please, I have a ZB volume pedal, it has a nylon bar type toothed rack that engages with a toothed cog on the pot shaft. The old pot was 470k and is dead and no longer, as far as I can find, available.
1st question! I replaced the pot with a 500k log volume pot, modified to fit, all works, no problem or change of tone. The issue is, the volume comes in too ' steep ' not gently increasing as i wanted, could i have wired it wrong? I copied the old pot.
2nd question. Dunlop offer a pot with toothed cog, it may or may not be the same as the teeth on the bar in the pedal, I'm willing to chance that. They offer a couple of different ratings, both much lower than 470k! Anyone any experience with these, I understand they are made as a replacement for wah wah pedals!
3rd question. Anyone got a ZB volume pot? It has a fairly short, 15mm, shaft, longer will be close to the end of the jackplug socket, also it has a " flatted " D type shaft.

The choice of pots available with a flatted, D shaft, logarithmic, over 200k is very limited! Thanks in advance Tony.

On 1. some log pots are made of different linear sections, and are not true logs.
On 2. No idea.
On 3. I may be able to help. I have an old ZB volume pedal. The toothed pinion has broken. At present it is on the list for the bin as I have been unable to find a replacement.
If you only want the pot I will cut it out and send it to you free of charge.
If you are interested pm me your address.

It's very kind of you to help in this way, as I stated on the pm, I will send you the postage if you pm me your address, thanks in advance.

I see John is likely to recycle your pedal! I was, as a last resort, thinking of converting it to the Ernie Ball string/pully pot. So happy to get a replacement instead!

Tony

Its in the post.

John

It's only £3.20 to send it to you.
I should get it away in the next day or so.
Next time I order some strings from you, pop in a couple of spare strings and that would be OK.
