Vegas Split

Postby dessa » Sun Aug 21, 2016 11:02 pm

Thought this might be of interest. I have removed the amp section of my Vegas and covered the cab in tweed. New baffle. Constructed a cab for the head. Much easier to carry. Not using reverb as use digital unit.

Let me get this right 'cos I might want to do it. The speaker enclosure is the whole of the original cabinet, amp space and all? Just a new baffle. Then the amp section gets a new box. What wood did you use - 3/4 ply? maybe thicker? or some other timber?
Cheers, Tone.

Yep the cab is the original Vegas. Made a new baffle cover with oxblood fret. The actual speaker baffle remains the same so the amp can be refitted if required utilising the original fret. The amp cab is 18mm ply glued and screwed.

Looks great Derek. :) I have an empty Peavey Nashville 400 cab that I am going to recover in tweed, have ordered the Tolex and speaker cloth, using a 250watt neo bass speaker, means I can use it for steel with my Steelaire head for steel, or with my MB200 for bass guitar. Will put pics up when I get it done.

That is a great 'Classsic' look Derek, positively head turning.

Your new setup is sounding good, too, Malcolm. You've got two month to get the job done, before you bring it down to the 4th Anniversary Gartcosh Bash! You know you want to.

Completed task. New cab for the amp unit and recovered the original carcass to match. New speaker grille and 15-4 Telonics. Omitted reverb tray but could fit send and return on the speaker cab if necessary.
