Dave the NESGF "backing tracks".

Those of you who have been to the NESGF will have seen and met Dave Frakes who has stalwartly provided backing, and some vocals.
Sad to say, about a year ago Dave contracted a cancer. It was incurable, but held at bay by treatment for many months; in fact he played at the August 2015 NESGF.
Now he is slipping away from us, but Anne and I are in constant touch and will be pleased to pass on any regards from the steel players that he spent happy hours with at the festivals.

Iv'e never met the gentleman but I have lost a few good friends to cancer and my sympathies go to any family who are struggling with this devastating illness.

Great picture, looks like a real cheery chap to be around, sad indeed and all too much of it.... The best to him and his family from the Scottish troops!

Tony, I enjoyed every moment I spent with Dave, he is an inspiration to everyone. If you can, tell him I said hello. Donny

Sad news, but everyone who has ever played the steel has added something and left their mark.

Just realised he might have not necessarily been a steel player, but in what ever he did the comments still apply.

I have already expressed my comments privately to Tony, but I'd like to add to these comments on the Forum too.
I remember Dave singing and playing his guitar to Streets of London at last year's NESGF and we also had a good chat in general about guitars and music. His backing for Tony was spot on. Give him my best wishes Tony.
Keith.
