Buddy Emmons passed away

Postby Jim Pritchard » Wed Jul 29, 2015 10:29 pm

Just returned from and evenings rehearsal, playing several tunes by Buddy Emmons, to find this on my PC, from friends in the USA.

He was & has been a great an influence, not just to me, but many thousands of musicians around the world.
He will be sadly missed, but not forgotten.

My sympathy to the Emmons family & friends RIP Buddy Emmons.

I just found out Buddy Emmons has passed away. Of course, I am very upset. He is my favorite steel player; I love his playing on Judy Collins' cover of Someday Soon. They say he was never the same after his wife died, so hopefully, he is with her now. Rest In Peace Big "E."

Buddy actually died just over a week ago, but the news was only released yesterday through Facebook. I thought he was starting to look frail the last time I saw him in a photo that was sent to me below about a year ago, but this is still a shock. When you consider his achievements in the steel guitar world. he really has been THE most outstanding player, designer and innovator that we will ever see. He had his demons in the past few years, but he is at peace now with Peggy. He was, and always will be, the Guv'nor.
