So ends an era! such a shame at the age he was, RIP Eric.

I got this earlier today from Anne-Marie who many of you know from the shop!
He will be missed by us all who have had anything to do with him in any way. Really sad news. I know lots of you that met him will be crushed.

Some things are hard to comprehend. It was not long ago I had a ripping chat with Eric about overhauling my old Binson echo. long ago I went to see him about learning to play steel,(I'd just got JDs' Emmons S10 and had lost Johns phone number. Eric said he could show me but not that day,so offered me a teaching VHS. I told him I'd just been made redundant and would rather spend the money on a lesson. On my way out after agreeing to phone for a lesson,he threw the VHS tape to me and said you can be getting on with that it's nothing special.I never made it to a lesson at the shop and I never paid for the tape and he never asked for anthing.I found out later as an import it was around £16.00 in 1983/4 The tape was a guy called Bruce Boughton(spelling?) a great player but not a teacher. Anywho because of that I did get to play, not there yet but I'm having a go. R.I.P.Eric..

I am very saddened by this news. Really, Eric was the UK's Mr Steel Guitar for many years. What I owe the man is immeasurable. My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.
