Most of us steelies had to start somewhere, I started with Bob Newman in the band Frisco 1968, then we formed Together, then I worked with him in Forever In Blue Jeans, all in all, some 20 years, and were family friends for the last 50 years, so it is with much sadness I report the passing of Bob on Tuesday morning at around 01-15.
I won't go into details, but he has been ill for some time, and I will miss the hell out of him as he was more family than friend.
My heart goes out to all his family at this very sad time and I could go on and on about Bob and Carole but I don't have to as you guy's and gal's know where I'm comming from.
May the power's that be ease the heartache that his friend's and family are feeling at this time.

Bob Newman

Postby Dave Nutt » Wed Apr 30, 2014 4:22 pm

Just had a message from Gerry Hogan to tell me that Bob Newman passed away yesterday. Yet another UK country stalwart leaves us. He and Carol gave so many folks so much pleasure.
God bless ya Bob.

I didn't know him, but I'm sad to hear of his passing. Another loss for our little band of fellowship.

Chin up Slim, my good mate of many years, think of the good times you had with Bob and Carol, a very sad loss but Bob is free of all pain and suffering, and now it`s time to send our prayers up for Carol at this sad time, My prayers are on there way.

Bob was one of the good guys, and from a generation that I remember well on the British country music scene from the 70's. A very humorous and professional artist, Bob's passing is a real loss but he is in a better place now.
