Herb Steiner, steel guitar authority from Texas, reported today that Jerry Blanton passed away yesterday. Jerry, from San Antonio in Texas, was not only a steel guitar legend, he was a fine player and a brilliant builder of pedal steel guitars for almost 60 years. His guitars are still revered to this day, and rated highly for their fine engineering and finishes.

Iknow that Donny Johnstone had a Blanton years ago,I think He may still have it. Whilst I never saw the guitar up close I was told by a steelie friend it was very heavy.
I am sure that The Springfield guitar was a bit of a copy under the hood although The builder of the Springfield said He had never seen a Blanton which was strange since Donny was involved with the Springfield !!
I hope Donny will correct Me if I am wrong and tell us a bit about the guitar.
