Just had a message from Jimmy Pritchard saying that he had heard that Micky Byrne had passed away.
I had heard that he had been in hospital for sometime. Micky had survived many years on a second heart and led quite a normal life.
He was a real nice guy and an excellent pedal steel player.
He will now be reunited with his wife Julie.
Condolences to their family and many friends.
Sleep in peace old friend.

Very sad news. I first got to know Micky and wife Julie following a meeting with them both at E.S. Electronics in the Broadway, Maidstone around 1970. Micky was a really good mate, and someone that I had a lot of time for.

He hadn't been well for much of this year, and I am glad that he is now at rest with Julie. RIP old buddy. You had a somewhat challenging life, with a replacement heart some 20 years or so ago, a house fire, and cancer in the last year or so. Mick's passing has hit me today as hard as Dave Nutt's did in recent years.

Just heard, this is very sad news indeed.
Mick was a good bloke, ever optimistic and an excellent player. Although he had more than his fair share of the set backs already mentioned, and looking on the bright side, he had many extra years of active life due to his transplant.
We'll miss him so let's hope he's up there jamming with Buddy and the rest of them.

All the Best to you Mick.
