out of action for a while
trying to do my bit for the environment i have been cycling whenever a car journey was not necessary. works well until a driver enters a roundabout you are cycling around and fails to see you in front of them. in december i was broadsided. car vs cyclist, cyclist loses. cyclist flies and crash lands. ambulanced to a&e, four days in hospital. after numerous x-rays, ct and mri scans - diagnosis: dislocated left shoulder, fractured left humerus, fractured left foot, minor pelvic injury and nerve damage in left arm and hand. left arm and hand are hardly working and lack sensation.
but i'm alive!
apparently i will definitely need a shoulder operation to get full shoulder & arm mobility back, but prerequisite is nerve damage will need to heal otherwise they say i could end up with frozen shoulder post operation. four weeks on, nerves have made little recovery so far. yet to see a neurosurgeon so the extent of nerve injury is an unknown at present. i guess recovery is going to be a long haul.
how quickly you can lose an ability you take for granted.
looks like i shall not be playing any sort of guitar for some time.
perhaps time to take up an instrument that requires only one hand.. trumpet? ...wife says noooo
staying positive. hopefully by the time gigs start again...
stay safe everyone
