I have to echo Bob's comment about having faith. I won't lay out my beliefs on these pages, but suffice to say that I have strong religious faith. I normally keep my thoughts to myself, but I firmly believe that prayer can have a positive effect for some people. Dave and Reg are two of the nicest guys I've ever met, and I've known Brummy Dave since the 1970's. We all need to keep them both in our thoughts, they are our musical brothers.

Dave stated that he's never smoked in his message to me. For those people of our age group i.e. old b :censored: s, even if we've never smoked a fag in our lives, for those of us that gigged back in the 60's through to the millennium, we probably consumed enough second hand cigarette smoke to last a lifetime. My clothes would stink of smoke when I got home after a gig. The change of law to prohibit smoking in public places came a bit late for a lot of folks. :o

Though I have no religion Dave and Pauline both know they are constantly in my thoughts as I am sure they are with all of us on here, I am pleased to report that the steroids Dave has been given has made things a little easier for him and he was able to walk around a bit yesterday but Dave is a realist and aware of what he is facing, I have given him my assurance that Pauline will not lose a penny on what his beautiful Sheffield cost him but he would like to sell it himself and is looking for offers in the region of 2400.
I wish them both peace and hope their faith will sustain them through this.

Bob thank you for posting the photograph of Dave and yourself on a happier occasion. I have not had the pleasure of meeting Dave but have read and enjoyed many of his post here on the website. My thoughts and prayers go out to Dave and his family on this very sad occasion.

Lads, can I take the opportunity to thank you all for the messages, it’s heartwarming for Pauline and me to know that so many people care. We have had a good Christmas although like everyone else a different one in so many ways.Let’s hope that the future brings better days for all of you.
It’s great to sit and think back over the years, some of our friendships go back 40/50 years, I still think of you all as young men, Ken and Dessa as boys lol, what days they were, we had the best years for sure, sessions, tv, radio, travel and gigs coming out of our ears, looking through my diaries I count that in 1983 I did 321 gigs, inc 4 tv shows with Box car Willie, 1 with Skeeter Davis and another with Roy Drusky, Wembley and European festivals, trip to the states to work Texas Rodeo shows with Billie Jo Spears,(Dinner with Lloyd Green and Dot at their house) back over to Branson Missouri to work with Box car willie, half a dozen sessions and still ended up broke lol  those were the days. (I did get presented with my Clark Custom D10 as a gift though)

Let’s hope the world spins around and the young players of today will get the same opportunities that we guys had.

I wouldn’t be right to not thank JD for his kind offer regarding the future of my Sheffield Steel, he and I go back many years both as friends and involved in purchases, always the gent and always fair and honest.

I have a few items to dispose of, once new year is over I’ll try put pics up.

Not much else to report, Pauline and I wish you all a healthy and prosperous New Year.
Cheers
Dave.

Well buddy - I will definitely raise a glass to you and Pauline tomorrow night. In 1975, my diary shows that I had one night off from playing. Christmas Day. Sometimes I would do two gigs in a day, one in the afternoon and again in the evening. I'm very unsure if things will ever go back to those times Dave, but we were certainly lucky to be in our pomp during that period. I hope that the medical experts have got their predictions awry, and that you have more time with us mate.

I encourage all of the members on this site to keep you and Reg in our thoughts and prayers.

All the best, Ken.
