Firstly may I say a big sorry for not keeping everyone up to date with Carol’s progress, you have been so kind in showing your concern and love for her welfare.
We have been waiting until after Christmas before saying too much, as she is due another neck chest and abdomen scan in the next couple of weeks to see if anything has returned, following the recent discovery of a hard lump under her chin, which we hope is either fluid or scar tissue.
Her health has improved dramatically over the last few months, and she is looking great. She has lost a couple of stones which she is pleased about, but it is because she has trouble eating with only ¾ of a tongue plus no saliva glands to help the food down and a limited taste experience which makes eating very boring for her.
Never the less she is still with us and that is the main thing!
To say she is a fighter is an understatement; you should see the bruises she has given me!
I have returned to playing in the Ian Highland Band again, and taking Carol to as many gigs as I can. My good mate John Davis has been sitting in for me whilst I have been off nursing Carol, and I really appreciate it. Many Thanks John you are a star!
She now wears light weight neck scarf’s to cover the rather nasty 3rd degree burn scars the radiotherapy treatment left her with, which she is very embarrassed about, She thinks they make her look ugly, but who cares, she looks great to me, anyway have managed to live with ugliness for 61 years.
We have set a goal to attend the Irish Steel Guitar Festival this year, were Carol will be offering free Hugs and kisses of appreciation to everyone that knows her.
Thank you all once again, for your wonderful support.
Kindest Regards
Dave Kirk
