If the measure of a man is told in the number of cards received at his passing, Ron is not doing too bad.

Only just this afternoon did I hear Ronnie had very sadly passed away. My condolences to his family and friends. A great loss to our steel community. Several times Ronnie popped into the Ormesby Country Music club, and during the break and end of the evening, we'd have a yarn. Hearing him talk about going over to Nashville with Bobby Bare, Curly Chalker playing with the Hillsiders, and all the other wonderful stories, was the highlight of the evening for me - He was a British Country Music steel guitar legend. RIP Ronnie, my friend.

I remember back around 1991 -ish I took my ZB D 11/10 to Ronnie for him to re-build in the hope it
would make it lighter, it did'nt, however, he did a magnificent job and when I collected it he said
to me ' That's the first ZB I've done and the last ' !!
A great loss to the British steel society, R.I.P. Ron .

Sheena would like to express her thanks for all the kind thoughts and stories you guys have left on here, and I can tell you Ron left us in style As you would expect for a man much loved in the pedal steel and lapsteel community.
Although unfamiliar with Scottish customs I had the honour to be selected for the cord tradition It was a unique experience for me and I was grateful for it. Ron's plot on the Black Isle overlooks the most beautiful part of Scotland and I am Told he chose the place himself. Sleep well my friend Sleep well my friend.
