Just had a message from Jimmy Pritchard informing me of the passing of Bristol steel player Bob Dixon this morning who passed peacefully away after a long illness with COPD.
My condolences to Kay and his sons at this sad time.
RIP Bob.

Oh no, dear Bob was one of the best players in the UK. He was always ready for a chat whether it be on the phone or at a gig. A lot of people thought he was a miserable so and so, but underneath that dour exterior was an extremely humorous and funny guy if you got to know him. His passing is a huge loss, and my thoughts are with his family at this very sad time. RIP Bob.

So sorry to hear that Roy. I met Bob a couple of times in about 2001-2002 when we were recording in Bristol and he came in as a session player. He was a wonderful guy, very calm and unassuming but when he got behind that pedal steel he totally blew us all away! An amazing talent, and a great loss to the steel guitar family.
