We can no longer count it on one hand

Numbers of our fold here have been or are currently victim to the Big 'C' in some shape or form.

Some have battled and lost, some have battled and won, and some are still battling on, but for sure it has touched many.

As a family we have endeavoured to support all who have been on the receiving end of this illness in any which way we can, JD great effort from you at your recent Tesco event!.... KB &JD in support of loved ones after their loss, a credit to you both!

The bottom line is we can only put our arms around those we hold dear and give thanks for those no longer here.

From past posts you will know I'm very fond of Sonya Issacs hence:

I've just come across this clip and I think it pretty much says it all!

I would like to name those who need our continued support but I'm frightened I miss anybody! ...
For now can I say .... CK,DN,BH ...... they'll know as we know!..... and God speed Donny 'J' back to full health and strength!

I believe that once you are a musician you become part of a brotherhood. I have put shows on to raise funds for those left behind when one of the brotherhood in my area have passed on. The two major causes of losses once we get to a certain age seems to be heart attacks and cancer. One thing that always staggers me if I call on musicians and singers to help in putting a show is just how willing they are to help a fellow brother / sister or their family in their time of need. Some not only donate their time, but also provide a prize for a raffle.

I still have musician friends that I made back in the 60's, and it is the music that brought us together in the first place and the love of our instruments. It is never pleasant seeing a friend go downhill with cancer, let alone a family member. I have watched some really dear friends go from being strapping, strong guys to a mere shell of their former selves, and it is just heartbreaking to see it. We all need to value our time on this planet and try not to waste a moment of it. I thank God each day for providing me with a loving family and some small ability that has enabled me to have had a good life. Others may not have been so fortunate, and we all need to do what we can in passing on any musical skills and valuable time to those who are just starting the great road to a musical career.

Remember, our lives are relatively short, and we must look after those who have not as well as those who have.

Superb Bob, over the years I have attended the funerals of many fine musicians or their family members and always consider it an honour to be there to try and give some support, just as I felt humble and greatful to those who supported my own family in our time of loss.It amazes me just how kind our brotherhood of musicians can be in difficult times, and I hope I can always help those in need of support. This is possibly one of the greatest brotherhoods to be a member of, magnificent people.
