Scotty was indeed a legend and did an immense amount for the steel guitar fraternity.
I was honoured to have met Him several times at Dallas.
Ret in Peace Brother.

While Scotty's passing is very sad, I am not surprised to learn of it. I have seen Scotty look frailer over the last 5 years at Dallas. This year he was completely wheelchair bound, and had aged considerably. His contribution to steel guitar is immeasurable. RIP DeWitt Scott.

It is with a heavy heart I write this. As Ken said it was expected as Scotty's health had been poor for a long period now.
Scotty has been our president of the BBS for 38 years and also a personal friend of mine over the years and has been very good to me in many ways.
What Scotty has done for the world of steel guitar will be remembered for years to come.
RIP Scotty.

Here are some memories of Scotty,Gordon Lloyd and me (cannot remember the name of the other chap in the pics) The lady with Scotty is Ann, Gordon’s other half at the time, AKA “The Dragon”. This was the first time Scotty had been to London and he asked me to drop him off in the middle of it as he wanted to see it all so, I dropped him off on Eros statue in the middle of Piccadilly circus, these were great times for me and we spent half the night in a park lane hotel with Scotty stealing lics from Gordon on an old Shobud that he had in his room. About 25 years later Scotty returned my favour by showing me around St.Louis, he was a friend to every steel player and will be missed by all.
