A very sad time .....

Wed Jul 02, 2014 6:42 am

I phoned Eric Snowball a couple of days ago and was told the end is very close, I was already aware he has been confined to bed for a while now..... but only a few weeks ago when I called on him he was climbing a scaffold tower to repair guttering...how quickly any of us can be taken....
So sad, he has done so much for our steel community.

As you say John ,he has'nt been in the best of health for a long time now, and this is not what I have been
waiting to hear, my mate, Hank Hillman phoned me this morning to tell me Jen,his wife died last night then
my old guitarist phoned to say that Hughie, who used to sing with "Together again" from Swansea also died
yesterday, just what I needed today (happy birthday to me !) :( :(

What can one say our thoughts are with Margret his wife and his children, Mathew and Katey.
Have known him well over 40years, he did a lot for the steel guitar promoting it hear in the UK.

I went out to lunch with Eric years ago and Matthew, who was about 3 or 4 years of age, was with us. He had a glass of orange juice, bit the glass and had a huge chunk of broken glass in his mouth. Eric quickly retrieved it before it could do any damage. Matthew must be middle aged now. Hard to think that Eric and Margaret were just a young married couple then.

So many UK steel players owe Eric a debt of gratitude for something or other. I certainly do.
