Our community! and your thoughts!

Sat Apr 14, 2012 2:13 pm

Mr Nutt! Picture taken I guess about 18months ago?

Keep this fella in your thoughts! To say he has been through the mill this last year would be the all time understatement! And keeping things close to his chest I had no comprehension until I met him and Pauline this week. Dave has the spirit of a Lion but like us all can use a little encouragement from his buddies! After a long stint of things surgical and chemical he is only now thinking of getting back on the ‘electric sowing machine! His beloved LeGrande!. (albeit with me at this minute but it will go back home soon! ) I know he will want to murder me for this but my shoulders are broad enough!

I think we need an 'extended family' tab like the SGF as numbers of our guys have either gone in recent times or have suffered a tad this last while!

A little email now and then is I believe quietly appreciated!

Others suffering at the hand of ill health have been Basil (who likewise keeps it close to his chest!) and Kenny Byng’s good lady who was through it of late.

Onwards and upwards to those of our community who had had their share but whose spirit is inspirational! The very best to you!

I think you could add Kevan Batholomew and maybe Barry "$ollocks" Gaskell to your list of those that have suffered lately Bob, though these guys don`t publicly complain they are part of our crowd and I wish them well..... ;)
The worst I have suffered myself is a broken heart each time Eithne left me!! X6 now!! But we seem to have put all that behind us now :D

Unfortunately many of us 'old farts' are of an age when things start to fall apart. Aging is a horrible process, but most of us stay young at heart. Playing steel helps that philosophy in my view. I'm still gigging at weekends (mainly Sundays) and it gives one something to look forward to.

Maybe an 'Extended Family' tab would be a nice addition to the site.

Anyway - my thoughts and best wishes go out to all of those among us who have not enjoyed the best of health in recent times. It is a typical British trait that we don't broadcast our health problems and keep them to ourselves. The guys in the States are the other way round and seek support from their peers.

For once even I'm serious , I agree completely with all the comments and support the idea for an "Extended Family"
section, we are tight little community and need to know how our fellow steelies are and not wait for the obituary
column !
I won't be a million miles away from Dave Nutt when we get back so he can expect me appearing from time to time,
I need the lessons ! As of Tomorrow ( 17th) I will be off line for a while until we get settled, I hope I might be able
to use our daughter's computer but not as frequent as normal so you all behave like good 'uns until I'm back !
All the best
Frank. (Ex - Corfu) :D :D

Bob, Not annoyed in the least,as a matter of fact Im quite touched by what you have said and done. Im sure my probs would be dwarfed by others, its the fall of the dice and we just get on and deal with it. Im currnetly working back towards healthier and fitter times.
Many thanks for the friendship Bob much appreciated.

Frankie, Hope you get this before your dissconected. Youll always be welcome over here, loads of coffeee, drinkies and steel chat, not sure about steel lessons or playing (bet you could teach me nowdays.lol) At the moment the hand shakes are so great that the bar and picks occasionally go flying (by accident) makes for great vibrato though  combine that with the probs in right knee after total replacement end of summer last year Im currently a physical scrap heap.

Hope the move back home goes well for you both,Im sure its the right one.
Dave.

Thanks for that Dave, we'll give each other lessons, I ain't seen my beloved ZB since November let alone play it !
It is a funny feeling really, leaving here after the 8 years we've lived here but we have to do what we have to do, the kids and grandchildren come first. :P
Right, speak in the future, look after yourself and keep prodding Bob Adams for me in case he forgets Lin and me !
Cheers for now.
