Andy Buchanan the left handed steelie.

Tue Mar 24, 2026 9:16 pm

Some of you that went to my steel guitar meetings May remember my friend Andy Buchanan who made his own steel guitar and the foot pedals were made of ring spanners. A month ago I asked Ronnie Bennett to make him a brand new left-handed steel, The guitar was nearing completionAnd then a few days later I learn from his brother that is in Addenbrooks hospital on palliative care. I went to see him this evening and I didn't stay very long as he's got his family with him And although he was pleased to see me I could not steal more than 5 minutes of his time.
They say you never trust a south paw but Andy was somebody you could trust He took me up in a tiger Moth bi plane and brought me down safely and all I could see in front of me was a massive great engine.
He was a good friend to me and I will miss him when he's gone.

not that long ago he lost his wife Roy, he was one of us, it must make passing easier than leaving a beautiful lady behind just M.H.O.

[b]Thanks Willie, The measure of a man, I went to Andy's funeral yesterday and played my steel for a couple of hours at his wake but at the crematorium the crowd was amazing The chapel was totally inadequate I think it held 270 seated, all seats full and as many as they could get in standing against the wall but at least 50 outside that had no chance to get in.
It's a depressing thought but when my time comes I hope they can find enough people to carry the box /b]
