Passing of Ian Forbes.

Mon Dec 26, 2022 12:24 pm

I just got the very sad news that Brother Ian Forbes from Inverness passed away on Christmas morning. Ian had been battling with COPD for quite awhile, and it finally caught up with him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. RIP ole friend.

Saddened to hear of Ian passing,I knew from weekly calls to Allan Thompson that Ian had been going downhill for some time.
Ian was "one of a kind" and time spent with Him was always a blast.
Rest in peace dear friend.

Hi Guys, as Malcolm stated, Ian was a larger than life character, he was also a one off. I first met Ian at the Irish Steel show when it was held in the Europa Hotel in Drogheda, He was in the company of Alan Thompson and Derek McDonald, and I can honestly say it was a blast, I don't remember when I laughed so much, he loved country music and more especially steel guitar, he also had a great fondness for whisky ( but that doesn't make you a bad person does it?)
He will be much missed by all who knew him
I have asked Linda to keep me informed of his funeral details, and when I get them I will post them on here to enable anyone who wishes to attend to pay their last respects to do so.
yet another Brother of the bar gone

Hi Guys, I received an email from Linda (Ian's wife) stating that in accordance with Ian's wishes there will be no funeral.
There will however be a viewing this week in Chisholm's Funeral Home in Inverness to allow anyone who wishes to pay their final respects to do so.
Ian will be cremated on January 10th at 9.30am
He had asked for all who knew him to have a nip of Whyte and McKay's and a pint of Tennants Lager to send him on his way.
I know that I will be complying with his final wish.
Farewell Dod, we had many a laugh.

Hi I came across this by accident and would like to thank you all for your kind words you had to say about my dad Ian forbes who passed on Xmas day
It’s a sad time when you have to take his wife to court to get your inheritance I was told for the last 30 years his instruments were mine when he passed but according to Linda he sold them which I know for a fact is a lie she also tried to tell me his funeral was £4000 for a direct cremation another lie then blocks me on my dads Facebook
