Nearly new member saying hello

Hello Steelies,

My name is Ray and I live in Hersham Surrey or, if you haven't heard of it, Walton-on-Thames. Somehow I've grown old, but I still like to play music. In the past I've learnt some guitar and keys but now I'm working hard on pedal steel - often recording bits and pieces for my own amusement. I've been playing for over 50 years so it isn't always absolutely awful - not usually anyway ! In the event that anyone else, more or less local, is in a similar situation (all the people I played with have moved away or upwards) and would like to jam sometimes, contact would be very welcome. I apologise for not posting sooner but, not wishing to make too much more of a fool of myself than comes naturally, I thought I'd better progress a little bit first. Greetings to you all.

Hello & welcome Ray. I'm afraid your post might get missed down here in the "How To" section of the forum. There's a "Welcome New Members" section that you should move your post to. ..... Done! B
Anyhow, regarding your query, I reckon getting in touch with the London lads would be the way to go. I think they meet in Sarf London, which is a bit of a schlep for you but I'm sure it would be just the ticket.

Hi Ray, welcome to the forum! Anyone who can make the trip (and be nice) is welcome at London Steelies, although the meetings have been a bit few and far between lately. We abandoned the south London venue, found a free one in east London, but it's not ideal for parking. I do hope to organise another one before too long so keep an eye out.
