Hi, I am sorry it took so long to get back to you been busy with the snow.My PSG is a Shobud 1,which i got from Bob Adams.You can see him playing it on you tube, A Fool Such as I.It sounds better when he plays it.I have been playing it through a Peavy Vegas.I play guitar as well,so its handy having two channels.With the guitar being a push pull,is there a specific way of tuning the E strings.Do you tune the lower first to E flat or raise to F.I have got it close, but never just right My last PSG was a Marlen which i sold on ebay,to fund the Shobud,i allways wanted a Shobud.
The band i play with is The Brothers .The band has been going for 20 years or so,i have played with them on and of for a good while.I started of as the bass player,then keyboards,now i play guitar,PSG,and keyboards.

I doubt very much that your shobud is a push-pull.

It might be a pull-release, if it's an old shobud, but it's probably an all-pull.

If there are a load of springs at the bottom of the changer, it's an all-pull.

If it is an all-pull, tune the strings open at the keyhead, and tune the raises and lowers with the nylon tuners.

Hi Ian, Dont worry about the delay in getting back, the site is quiet of late anyways.

Youve certainly had it bad up there for snow, mind you, down here in South Wales we have had the most snow I have seen in my 16 years of living here, its been a slow and doddgy journey getting from our place to our nearest village (2 miles away) and thats in a 4 wheel drive, thawing a bit now but forcast is for 4"/8" tomorrow and more later later in week, guess thats winter hey?
Well! It sounds like your a seasoned musician, good to know that there is work north of the border, I worked up there many years ago, there was always a healthy country music scene.

Ian with questions or advice surrounding steel guitar just ask away, loads of helpfull, knowledgable pickers and techies on here as I'm sure you will find out.

Your Sho Bud was sounding nice,
We were due to play Forres earlier this month but had to cancel due to weather,fortunately Allan Thompson and Band were able to do the gig.

That Bud sounded just fine when we saw you at the Opry!

Re.Your tuning, if you are not quite reaching the pitch ease the nylon tuner until it is just making contact with the changer finger on 4 & 8 raise and lower then open up the respective stops a tad at the levers as per the photo. (an LDG pic but same difference) This action will then take your note just beyond the desired pitch (higher or lower) then adjust the nylon back to fine tune to (spot on!) A very common failing on these is users over cranking the nylon tuners, the lower ‘E’ lever then just begins to raise again! The same principal applies to the pedals always give slightly more on the undercarriage stop then go to the changer! Not the other way round.

The Pro Ones are cracking steels with super tone!

Your Profex is sitting behind the front door waiting the ‘word go! From the courier! I’ll get it there just as soon as they are accepting uplifts, I believe they are getting fresh raindeers in this week!
