Hi all , I'm Bill from London.I am mainly a producer singer songwriter and play guitar and keyboards.Ive always been interested in trying other instruments and bought a vintage Guyatone Lap steel Hg56 I no nothing about it other than it is Japanese and possibly 1950s.
I must admit I have found it very hard to get my head around playing it. I have give it a go but I think ill have to pass it on,I love the look and sound of them(when not being played by me) my arthritic thumb don't help... excuses excuses ;) Any info on this guyatone will be much appreciated. Thanks

Welcome Bill,
There are guys on the site I am sure can help you.
It would be helpful if you could post a picture of the guitar.

Hi Bill welcome aboard, We are a bit down on plank players but there are a few on here.... Why don`t you go the whole hog and try the pedals? must surely be easier to master than all those slants and limitations?? ;)

Hey Bill, welcome aboard! I sympathise - I found the pedal steel much easier to pick up than the lap steel (I have a GeorgeBoards 8-string in C6) in spite of the pedals etc. My Dad always used the pen-name of "Bilco" in his writing career in the pigeon racing world (Bill Cowell), so it's good to see the name again - albeit in a different place.
