Hi everyone. I have just signed up to the forum following a resurgence of interest in playing pedal steel after quite a number of years neglecting it in favour of dobro, banjo, guitar and singing.
Not having a band to play with was the reason for the Sho-Bud gathering dust, but we now have a little 5-piece combo which plays occasional gigs around Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. I was pleasantly surprised (and my band mates totally amazed) about how easily I have got back into playing steel.
My Sho-Bud Pro-1 is I suppose getting on for 40 years old, but I still love it. I added a fifth knee lever some 15 years ago with a little help from Ronnie Bennett, and after owning many amps, including the Peavey Nashville, my ageing bones now dictate that I carry less weight around, so I now use a Marshall AVT Tribute 50 which I think sounds nice.
I would love to hear from anyone in the Yorkshire region about gigs, jam sessions, etc. I would also be interested in doing recording sessions having had a bit of experience playing on recordings by country artists in this region.
Regards to all, Graham.
