Firstly, I'd like to apologise for not responding sooner - I rarely post on forums so wrongly assumed there would be some kind of email notification when people replied - it wasn't until I logged on today that I released there had been so many replies.
Although I don't know any of you (yet!) it seems like everybody that responded was genuinely trying to help. If anybody is in contact with Ken please thank him on my behalf for his kind offer of trying some of his guitars.
I have already spoken to Gerry for some advice and he has been very helpful. He also gave me a great lesson and I plan to go back to him for another. I asked the question here as it's always great to get a few different opinions and hear some peoples personal experiences! My chat with Bob was also really helpful - Bob, I've lost your phone number but will get in touch!
It's the mechanical flaws of the carter starter which I'm not happy with. I totally agree that I could learn on the Carter for years to come. At the same time, if the learning process is made more enjoyable/rewarding by playing a better instrument it will be worth the investment to me. Also, I'm a professional musician by trade (guitar) so I am happy to invest in quality instruments.
Thank you all for your advice - I'd be grateful for any more - and if anyone has a nice E9 for sale in the UK then please let me know!
