Hi fellow players Just to introduce myself I'm Declan from Kilkenny Ireland and have been playing Steel Guitar for a little over 2 years.I dont have much musical knowledge i played piano for 6 years in primary school but that was 35 years ago,so the theory is a little rusty and i honestly dread having to learn .At the moment i read Winnie Winstons book and a few other good ones as well as play along song books.I bought my Carter SD10 off Ted Nisbett.I play for fun as part of my hobby although i would like maybe eventually like to play weekends with a small local band.I practise daily as with my job its hours are flexable. So hope to learn a bit from ye all.Cheers :)

Hi Declan, welcome to the forum.
You say that you have no musical knowledge, don't worry about it, neither have I, and I've been playing guitar and pedal steel for 30+ years.

If you can hum a tune in time you can get a tune out of anything.

A sense of timing is crucial

Declan, take no notice of that Donny, compared to him im positively quiet, well almost ! well ! not as mad as him anyway ! And Richard ! thats simply not true that you have no musical knowledge, from what i have heard and seen, you are a fine steel player, maybe you dont read? but you sure as hell know how to busk, and play with feel and precision, ive often thought that some of the worlds top orchestral musicians would be totally lost if you took their dots away,
