Hi all,

Having had a beginners PSG lesson with Jonathan Shacklock in London just before Xmas and absolutely loved it, I have bought my first pedal steel! A Remington 12 string, as far as I understand it’s an extended E9, but hey, I’m a learner so it’s all foreign to me. Haha.

42 y/o learner from Ipswich, Suffolk. I’ve played guitar for 20 odd years, the 24 hours has been so addictive and exciting. Just learning the r/h finger groupings today.

Looking forward to getting involved, learning and discovering all from this forum.

WARNING - PLAYING PEDAL STEEL CAN BE EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE  ;)

Welcome Vincent, just having a bit of a laugh, but there's some truth there. Fortunately, it's a very enjoyable addiction, unfortunately it can lead to spending vast sums of money on gear.

Sounds like you're hooked already, there's no going back

Hope you have a very enjoyable journey on this amazing instrument :guitar:

It’s worth persevering, for me sometimes I thought it would never happen, then all of a sudden it started to click. I was pretty much like yourself, played guitar for a lot of years, when I started on PS it was almost like starting from scratch. There are so many aspects to co-ordinate, bar hand, picking hand, picks!, blocking, pedals, knee levers, volume pedal etc. How it ever comes to together I really don't know, but it does, and when it does, the feeling is indescribable, so I'm not going to try. Sure you'll get there yourself :D

Good luck :guitar:

Thanks Roy and welcome Vincent!

Does anyone have direct experience with Remington guitars? I haven't played one but from what I understand they are really well put together and I think Vincent got a good deal on one in good condition. I've seen a few ads and a fairly gushing review in the old Steel Guitar World magazine.

It would be interesting to see some pictures of the undercarriage to tie up with the description in the article.
