New Member - Looking for advice on Hawaiian style Lap Steel

Hi all!

My name is Matt Dear, I'm a composer and sound designer for video games. I also studied guitar at BIMM, and have been a semi-professional guitarist in addition to game audio duties.

As part of a new project, I may be asked to compose some custom music, in the style of hawaiian lap steel. I've done some research online, and as far as I can tell the closest in sound would be the classic Rickenbacker C6 models, as shown in the link below. The rolled off tone, rounded and plastic-glassy sound is exactly what I'm looking for.

The issue being, that they are slightly over-budget at the moment. I could potentially purchase one, use it for the project, and re-sell, but I'd like to look at cheaper options if they are available.

I'm not sure which is the best topic board for me to post this question. If it's not much use here, then if you could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Matt
