Hi all, new to the forum just starting out with a lap steel been playing guitars for years and always wanted to learn how to play steel guitar, I recently brought a guitar collection from someone which included a few fender lap steels from the early 50s so I'll be hanging on to one of them to start playing can anyone recommend a good tutorial video for absolute beginners been looking around on YouTube but not really found one that is for a complete novice cheers all

Hi Maz, we can help you on here. Let's know a little more about you (like - what area do you live, what sort of music do you want to play, how many strings on your guitar?).
So, welcome :D

Hi tony
I'm based in Essex, the steel I'll be using is a fender dual 8 think it dates from mid 50s, as for the type of music I would like to play would fancy having a go at 60s surf music and a bit of swing but need to start off with the basics, I already play standard guitar so hopefully this will stand me in goodstead.

Welcome Maz,
I'd advise getting your ass, along with your lapsteel, over to this site.....

Hours of tuition in the basics, clearly set out. Good luck :guitar:

Good call from Danny; also - surf through Doug Beaumier's stuff on the 'Tube. You have kept a very good guitar there, the collection must have been something! I guess the tunings will be (or will have been) E13 and C6th and you will find a lot of material by also searching for those.
