Hi Everyone

I'm Gary Peters. I have been a dormant member for quite a few years, but have now re-joined with my new email address, which is: [removed]. Since retiring from academia a year ago, I have been devoting myself to the PSG, although I've been playing it as a second instrument since the early 80's. For the last year, I've been working on shifting from E9 to E9/B6 universal. I'm loving it, and much prefer the extended possibilities of 12 strings and one neck, rather than separating the two tunings. I had a guitar built for me by Bill and Tim Rudolph at Williams guitars, Minnesota, and I have to say the instrument is beyond good, and worth every penny. I have a very varied background in every kind of music imaginable, but, for me, the pedal steel is the queen of all instruments regardless of musical context: and I'm sticking to that. That said, I love to play 'straight' country when I get the chance, so if there's anyone out there in the SW looking for a steelie, get in touch. Also, although it might put some of you off, have a listen to some of my playing here:

Also, I know there used to be regular meetings of steel players in Long Ashton (Uncle Roy's?), near Bristol, I guess they are now defunct? Any info on meetings would be great. It can be lonely playing the steel!

Gary

Edit: Email addressed removed as it's never a good idea to post your address to a public forum. If you really want to share it with the world re-post, but I advise against it.

Hello and welcome, Gary.
First off, I've got to say, I really enjoyed all of your tracks, and your guitars, steel and otherwise, all sound great.

The only thing missing was Mavis Staples' singing something on Van The Man and Soul Survivor.

Secondly, you should post links to them in the 'Pedal Steel Recordings' section, in case any forumites miss them here.

Hopefully you'll get fixed up with some gigs, good luck and thanks for posting the link :guitar:

Will do...I think you mentioned them once before to me a couple of years back. I did try, but I'll try again. Maybe they heard my steel playing!!
