Hi folks,

thought I would say hi as I have just joined the forum. What else should I say? I attempt to play a beautiful old Sho-bud through a tweed Deluxe replica. I'm based near the top of the M3. If I post any questions they are likely to be of the 'newbie' type.

Maybe a better description would be south-west of London or perhaps south of Heathrow airport.

Which part of the forum would be best for asking a question about tuning up? I think I have got myself a bit mixed up.

Hi Paul, you are very welcome onto the forum, and just remember this, there is no such thing as a silly question, any help you need in any aspect of Steel playing will be answered on here, i have received lots of help from other forumites, and i also try to help whenever i can, in fact i am about to post a 'HELP ME' question on the recording section,

Hi Paul, I only joined this about a month ago and am also very new to all of this. I've already had lots of useful advice so dont be shy in asking. There's lots of good videos for steel learning on you tube as well.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks! Quite unexpected but really cheering after a trickier than usual day at work.

@John (strings here): Thanks for the suggestion, I already have one! A brilliant bit of kit, apart from the noisy switch-mode power supply that induces so much hum its unusable, so I run it on batteries.

@Ruby: thanks for the youTube tip. Any that you would recommend for a learner (any style in E9) ? I have been getting a lot out of some Jeff Newman DVDs but would love to augment that from other sources.

Paul it seems to my geographical skills that you live pretty far south, I'm coming down to join in at Uncle Roys ( he d big cheese ) at Siston on Sat May 7th. If you can come along it would be great to meet up, bring your guitar and amp and sit down and enjoy, you never know I may learn something.

@Donny Thanks for the invite, sounds like something I'd really enjoy, unfortunately for me though this weekend's already been booked for quite a while. It's a shame, from what I've read I'd really like to attend. I hope all of you who go have a great time, and I wish you safe travelling Sir.
