Bit of a generic first post, I personally wouldn't have approved it (suspecting spam) but another moderator has done so we'll give Delh the benefit of the doubt and see how it pans out... :guitar:

Hi.
No I am real and not spam.
Just bought my first Stage One by ZumSteel, Googled and found you lot.
I’m, shall we say over 50, been playing guitar for about 35 years and thought I would give pedal steel a try.

Hi Delh, welcome to the forum. There are many lifetime steel players on here, there are also many like myself who coudn't afford one until they were over 50

It's a long journey but worthwhile imho, it's pretty challenging to begin with and does take a while to get your head, hands, feet and knees around it, but once you start to get it, it's very addictive and rewarding :guitar:

Stage One's have a good reputation as a starter steel and beyond from what I have read of others experiences of them, so you're off to s good start. You will find a lot of good stuff on here to help you and people willing to help if you have any questions. Youtube is full of quality instruction videos from beginners instruction to instruction for experienced players. The US forum is also a mine of information and well worth joining, from memory it costs $5 to join but that is for life so well worth it.

Here's a couple of links you might find useful,

Hello and welcome. Let's know a little more - where you're based, what's your kind of music etc. and maybe we can offer some practical help and advice. The Zum's a good choice by the way :D
