Hi Alan - so glad you feel better about the forum now . I think the difficulty was that you asked for a criticism before we got to know you. I, for one, will rarely (if ever) give an opinion of a performance other than face to face and then only to somebody I know and who has asked for advice. It's a tricky business to balance highlighting the positive aspects with pointers on possible improvement areas. It's so easy to seem negative when you only mean to help .
John is well worth checking out for S/H instruments, but Bob Adams is nearer to you. Hope to meet you in the future. All best, Tone

Stick at it - with a musical background, you'll make progress faster than many. This is a fantastic instrument to play, but it does take time and progress can seem to be slow - then, voila - you are playing things that previously were beyond you. And, given that it is the sound of pedal steel that attracts us - you'll be making that sound yourself!

Hi Alan and welcome back. Couldn't get the link to work either but have now had the chance to listen. Very good for your first attempt, and as others have said, I've been at it for quite a while and am still learning. My suggestion would be to a) stick with it; b) talk to JD ( ) about the choice of instrument; and c) listen to some of the basic video's by JD, Slimbo, and Jason to mention but a few. Regards, H.
