Welcome Declan!, Im relatively new around here as well. Good people to be found around here. I notice you're from Kilkenny. Im playing steel there this weekend as part of the roots festival (http://www.kilkennyroots.com) with Joe Fury and the Hayride. Its a swing/rockabilly/country boogie outfit. We're doing 5 gigs, so it'd be great to see ya.
and just to add another Kilkenny connection, my good friend, and fine steel player, Jamie Lennon, originally from Birmingham UK, and now living in Nashville, and working with the likes of Brent Mason, has strong Kilkenny roots, as his Father comes from there, pictured below in Westport, County Mayo, with his lovely wife, Georgette Jones and along with my duo partner [from 'the rubys'] Breda and myself, its a small world Declan!
Hi Eddie i got good info off Richard when i started playing in connecting my delay pedal .So i know he is well up on the hi tech end And it worked a treat.Cheers
Also forgot to mention i heard Jamie And Georgette play a year ago in Kilkenny. They were in Ireland lately but did not come to Kilkenny.Thet had only a handful of venues (thats the changing times i suppose)The last performance here had a poor attendance.Pity really because if was very enjojable.I didnt get to meet him ,im quite shy at approaching people for some strange reason
Welcome to the fold Declan. If you browse through the forum you'll notice that most of the other members are slightly NUTTTTTTTs but don't let that put you off. I was a member of the first Steel Association but was out for quite a while and only recently rejoined. It felt like coming home ( albeit to a madhouse ) and re-uniting with old friends. Look forward to your contributions to the forum and good luck.
