New Recruit to Pedal Steel

Hi
My name is Don and I come from pretty much the center of England ( Redditch )
I retired last week and having always loved the sound of the Pedal Steel I decided
I now have the time to start learning to play one

I have done a lot of reading on here and the internet in general and think I have decided
the guitar I want to get is a stage One with 3 Pedals and 4 knee Levers , It seems to be highly rated
on this forum and from what I have read it will do everything I would need .
I dont have ambitions to become so good I could go gigging with it , I just want to amuse myself at home
as I do with keyboards at the moment

Reading on this forum I have seen that its possible to get a new one from the states at about £950 including shipping and customs duty
I dont really want to buy a brand new one because of the cost and the hassle of importing it from the USA.
so my next move is to place a post on the wanted page to see if anyone has one for sale, but I think I have to
wait as I believe your first post has to be approved before you can post again

Oh well , fingers crossed that someone is moving up to a better pedal steel and is selling their stage one

Hi Don, welcome and good luck in your search. I think you're right to go for 3 on the floor plus 4 knees. Don't forget to look at some of the older pro jobs too, some could well be in budget - but ask advice; plenty on here to help.

Thanks for the advice , I did follow it and after getting some advice from John Davis I
settled on a Bennett S10 which John tells me is a pro model that should serve me well

it has 3 pedals and 5 knee levers which sounds difficult as I only have 2 legs

I am also buying a volume pedal and tuner with the guitar.
I already own a Line 6 DT25 valve amp head and cab and a line 6 HD500X Multi effects unit so I am hoping it will make
some sweet sounds , ( that is of course assuming I can learn to play it )

I bought it from Phil Caine but I have to wait till his new one is delivered before I can pick mine up.

Doesn't time go slow when you're waiting for something ( and its only been 1 day so far )

I passed a tanker on the A1 the other day and on the back it said "mole asses" and I thought how cruel! and how many does it take to fill a thing that size!!!

Well I cant fault the level of knowledge regarding Pedal Steels on this forum but the jokes are definitely going down hill

Hi,
I am trying to make sure I have to hand all the things I will need for my pedal steel when it arrives
I need to ask about seats ( no not moles asses ) the sort for sitting on while you play PSG

How high does it need to be ? I assume sitting at the right height is important
I am quite tall 6'-4", Will my music stool that adjusts from 20 to 23.5 inches be ok ?
