Uncle Roy asked me for some info about myself so here goes. As I have lived in Ireland since 1977 obviously a lot of the names are probably unknown to you guys but let me say that with the exception of one I would go on the road again with any one of them. Basil probably knows who the one is.
My main claims to fame are Roly Daniels Band in the late 70s after Basil Henriques. What illustrious footsteps to follow in and me with only a Fuzzy with 1 knee lever. I think Baz was using 2 or 3 vise grips.I then played bass and pedal steel with a rock'n'roll/country band called "Hot Rod" during which time we supported the late Billie Jo Spears with Terry Bethel on steel on her Irish tour. In '84 I started playing with Daniel O'Donnell (during which time I acquired a Sho Bud) and stayed there for 4 years during which time we met and backed numerous very famous luminaries. I then went to his sister "Margo's" band replacing my good mate Aidan Cunningham. I went off the road then although I did a few gigs on bass guitar with Chuck, June and the Gamblers who were good friends of mine from the old days. I also gigged with T.R.Dallas and had the pleasure of supporting the great Johnny Cash on his U.K.tour. I think that would have been around '92? Since then I've been playing the pub circuit with a piano player as a two piece then about 3 years ago we formed a three piece country band with a drummer who retired here from the U.K. Due to the recession and lack of support from our local radio station we disbanded last September and I am doing a one man show with (God Forgive Me) backing tracks. Is that enough?
Zumsteel Encore 3+5, Mooer Red Truck, Goodrich Match-Bro, Tech 21 Para Driver, Roland Cube 30x, Guvnor dobro, '89 Fender Squier, '84 Tokai Breezysound Tele, and several accoustic guitars. COPD and bad back!
