Hello.. I'm a new Member!

Hello, I'm a new member My name is Karol. I've played guitar most of my days and mostly kept away from mainstream country(I don't know why?) I was eventually seduced by the sound of steel guitar...Weldon Myrick Area Code 615. It took me a while to get a steel..which turned out to be a Carter starter which I fiddled about on for three years or so developing a crap right hand technique amongst other things. It took me a while to realise how vastly different steel playing is to guitar playing. I've had a GFI ten string E 9th for the last couple of years and am thoroughly hooked! It is good to know that there is a steel playing community online, and I look forward to benefiting from all the experience that is out there!

Hello and welcome, Karol.
Your musical path has been very similar to mine, years of six string guitar, a couple of years with a Carter Starter and finally, on to an E9 GFI, and boy, does this instrument get under your skin.

If you can get access to any steel meetings or spending some time with an experienced player it would help you immensely. Otherwise, it's on to YouTube to watch the hours of helpful material from the likes of Mickey Adams and Joe Wright.

And, to completely blow your mind, get a hold of Buck Reid's CD (if you haven't already)

Good luck with your Steel trip :D
GFI Ultra keyless S10 4+5 Emmon's setup + Sigler, Li'l Izzy, Hilton volume pedal, Roland Cube 80gx, Joyo American Sound Pre-amp, Behringer VD400 Delay Pedal, Peterson Strobo Plus HD and a brace of bars, Ben's, Ezzee-Slide, Pearse, BJS, SIT nickel strings.
