New Member Saying Hello.

Postby Michael Coggins » Sat Dec 17, 2016 1:21 pm

Hi all,
I've been playing steel now for 3 and a half years now, getting there slowly!
Looking forward to visiting the forum more often.
Thanks,
Michael

Howdy Michael and welcome,
Don't know if you've been browsing the forum yet? But it's a great place to find the answers to the many questions that will no doubt arise as you progress with your steel.
Depending on your location, I'd recommend that you get along to one of the meetings that take place in London, Bristol, North East and Gartcosh (these are the ones I'm aware of). Nothing better than getting in amongst it.
Good luck :guitar:

Hi Danny,
Thanks for that. I live in Ireland so I won't get to any of those meetings.
I'm lucky to have some great players living quite close to me though. Richard Nelson, Martin Cleary and Aiden Cunningham are always very helpful and supportive when I have any questions.
Great to have this forum as well.
Cheers,
Michael

Welcome to the forum Michael,

It doesn't matter where you live, the friendship and support is just the same, well that's what I've found anyway.

Aye, yer in great company there, Michael :guitar:
Ireland's well and truly stocked with great players, and you've also got the Dublin festival for top inspiration.

And, Ron, I completely agree. I don't know why it is, but the steel community is by far the most generous spirited bunch (if somewhat Haggard) that I've ever come across :P

Thanks Ron and Danny,
Agreed, the steel playing community are a helpful bunch.
I've been to the last five Irish Steel Guitar Festivals, great craic!

Michael, Welcome, you should be able to gain a lot knowledge on here, between this and the amount of players you have beside you any problems should be sorted out. Due to a family bereavement I didn't manage over to Dublin this year, maybe 2017. Donny.
