Another brand new "wanna play" steel tryer

Hi, all.
Advice from a Mr. Dave Hartley sent me to this forum. I have already learned some important stuff that I had questions on, in but a brief time joined.
I am completely new to pedal steel, let alone the forum. I decided one weekend recently, after playing lead guitar for many years, to jump over on the Pedal Steel. I found an inexpensive (in US terms) Emmons-like guitar(can't even tell you what brand it is-has 10 strings, a mouse pad for my arms, aluminum neck and a weird tuning), and on advice from Mr. Hartley subsequently bought a Roland Cube 80GX amp. This has been in the past 2 months, and time being limited as it is, I have knocked around on them a relatively short time.
The amp I can use for lead if I should decide I don't have enough feet, knees, fingers, thumbs, and ears.
It is amazing to me, having been around old country in the States for a long long time, that most of the steel guitarists I watched on YouTube have been from England. I am not good on remembering names, so until recently I didn't know who John Hughey was, and the old bands with steel just had great steel to me, not a name with it, for example Tammy Wynette's steel player, Merle Haggard's steel player, etc. And I am just a few miles from Lakeland, Florida, USA, where there is a steel guitar festival of some kind.
Whatever the case, I hope to glean a lot more information from this site, and as I have mentioned to others, I hope 62 isn't too late to make a couple of tunes before I fall off that big stage at the end.
Hope not to be a burden asking too many questions.

Welcome aboard! I am also new to the PSG had mine about 2 months. This is a great forum although not as busy as the american one. There's some very knowledgeable guys on here and you always get a answer to any questions

Hi Erney - over here 62 is almost "starting age" By the way, what area do you live? Many of us have friends both sides of the pond and might be able to point you in the right, and local, direction.

Many thanks to the warm welcome received. I know the steel guitar is fast becoming a far gone art form. Many music stores I have gone into, before I decided to take the plunge, looked at me like I had extra parts growing from my head. It is difficult to find anyone who plays, at least who has the time or the want to, to give lessons or just chit chat about the steel.
I am going to perservere, I believe, as a couple of my "aspirations" are to play Taps on the bugle, leap from a perfectly good airplane(with hopefully matching parachute), and play Highway Forty Blues on the steel. All "someday", Note: Taps first, ME playing it.(notice placement of leaping, I hope not to leap, land on Highway 40, and then come Taps)
BTW, I am in central Florida area, southeast USA, a town called Clermont, and our Highschool mascot and name was Highlanders.
