New London lap steel member

Hi all,

After many years of deliberation I've finally taken the plunge and, thanks to the wonder of eBay, I now finally have a lap steel (I feel a bit guilty that I beat the other bidder by five seconds and a penny).

It's one of those Blue Moon jobs and yes, the construction is as cheap as chips. But I've mounted a Roland GK pickup on it and am using it with a VG-99 at present, but I may repurpose my old VG-8 for just this purpose. I'm happy to share any tips on taking the V-Guitar approach, by the way!

Hi there.
Have a look on the 'Steel Guitar Events and Meetings' section of this Forum. There's a group of (mainly) pedal steel players of varying standard (mainly beginner to intermediate) and one beginner slide player who meet monthly. Very friendly, non-competitive. We play along to pre-circulated backing tracks, talk steel, swap ideas etc and generally have some fun together. We meet in a pub in Clapham every month. Next meeting is on Sunday 16 february.
